Two old reclamation pits were redeveloped by the Flemish Land Agency (VLM) for nature and recreational purposes. The largest pit became a fishpond, but is only accessible on the north side (the canal side). The south side and the area surrounding the smaller pond are a nature reserve (including a breeding area) and are not accessible.
