After the Second World War Peter Altmeier 1947 was the first Prime Minister of the newly created Rhineland-Palatinate was 22 years in office. Inaugurated in 1981, the monument is located in the Mosel area near the German Corner.

Monument to Peter Altmeier in Koblenz. Altmeier was Prime Minister of Rhineland-Palatinate for a record-breaking 22 years and was instrumental in the founding of the Federal Republic of Germany.
He died on August 28, 1977, 4 years after his death the monument was erected in his honor on the banks of the Moselle in the Moselle facilities there. Since then, this section has also been called Peter-Altmeier-Ufer.
