Sigmaringen Castle (also called Hohenzollern Castle) is a real heavyweight among German castles. It towers over a striking limestone rock directly above the Danube and is the largest of the Danube castles. While the more famous Prussian Hohenzollerns ruled the empire from Berlin, this branch of the family remained in the south. The castle is still privately owned by the House of Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen today.
