🏗️🚢 The visitor platform at the Wedtlenstedt lock in the municipality of Vechelde (Lower Saxony) was set up as part of the ongoing replacement construction of the lock on the Salzgitter Branch Canal (SKS) to give interested parties an insight into this major project.
The Wedtlenstedt lock is being modernized to make the Salzgitter Branch Canal navigable for modern, larger cargo ships (large motor cargo vessels) with a draft of 2.80 m.
