Wonderful viewpoints at Barmsee
The Barmsee is a lake with a maximum length of 1.12 km and a maximum width of 0.49 km in the Garmisch-Partenkirchen district (Upper Bavaria) in the municipality of Krün north of Mittenwald. There is a small bathing area on the northwest shore of the lake.
The protected location and its relatively deep water mean that the deeper water layers are not completely mixed in spring and autumn - it is a meromictic (only partially mixed) lake. As a result, deeper water layers remain oxygen-free.
