What kind of nonsense is this? Since when has Uckersdorf been located on the Dietzhölze?

It's a station on the former Westerwaldquerbahn (Westerwald Transverse Railway) Herborn-Rennerod.

Uckersdorf station was located on the former Dietzhölz Valley Railway, which ran from Dillenburg via Ewersbach to Steinbrücken.

The railway line was built primarily for the transport of ore and industrial goods from the Dietzhölz Valley, but also carried passenger traffic.

Uckersdorf station served passenger traffic and local freight handling (e.g., agricultural products, timber, and smaller industrial goods).

      🏗️ Construction and Operation

The station probably opened with the construction of the section of the line from Dillenburg to Ewersbach, which went into operation on December 1, 1892.

It was a small rural station with a waiting room, goods shed, and loading siding.

The station building was typical of branch line stations in central Hesse – half-timbered or quarry stone, functional but designed with loving details.

      🚂 Use and Significance

The station was of great importance to Uckersdorf: students, commuters, and traders used the railway regularly.

The transport of agricultural products and the delivery of goods were also important.

      🛑 Closure

Passenger traffic on the Dietzhölztalbahn was gradually discontinued:

Ewersbach – Steinbrücken section: as early as 1953.

Passenger traffic to Ewersbach was discontinued on May 30, 1987.

Freight traffic on the section to Ewersbach continued until 1992, after which the line was finally closed.

Uckersdorf station thus lost its function and, like many other small stations along the line, was abandoned.

      🏚️ Current Condition

According to my information, the station building still exists and was transferred to private ownership and rebuilt after its closure.

The old tracks have been removed.

Parts of the former route are now used as hiking or cycling paths.
