On the top floor of the Olsker church you can see nine wide hatches or loopholes. The many square openings all around underneath the roof served as a support for beams that supported a wooden pedestal in front. Originally the church had an almost flat roof, which was later replaced by a conical roof structure. The church in Ols was dedicated to the Norwegian King Olav, who died in the Battle of Stiklestad in 1030.
