The Leezener Au is a nature reserve between the Neversdorfer and Mözener lakes that was created around 2005. The aim was to preserve important habitats and protect the existing fens. For this purpose, areas were waterlogged again and partially submerged and the Leezener Au was returned to its original course. Pasture areas are only managed extensively and grazed with cattle, water buffalo and Icelandic horses.
