The cross-border work of art to commemorate the earlier interaction between bricks and coastal shipping on the Flensburg Fjord is a testimony to today's unlimited collaboration.

This monument stands on the spot where, over the years, the destination of the Steensen brickworks (today's Sonnholm) was loaded onto sailing ships over a bridge.
The brick sail was created in 2003 by the Swedish clay artist (clay) Ulla Viotti. The work of art corresponds to the monument near Brunsnæs on the Danish side of the fjord. It is reminiscent of the heyday of the brickworks around the Flensburg Fjord and of the commercial shipping that transported the bricks to the entire Baltic region. Over 50 bricks produced the sought-after fired brick from 1850 to 1960.

The road in front of it is largely destroyed by the storm surge. Still passable for cyclists
