The church in Florovskoye already existed in the 14th century. In 1628, the books of the Patriarchal Treasury Prikaz recorded "the Church of Ivan the Theologian in the sovereign's palace village of Frolovskoye." In 1691: "The Church of John the Theologian is chopped into dumplings, dilapidated..." In 1828, the wooden Church of John the Theologian burned down "from a thunderclap", and a stone one was laid in its place that same year. The currently existing stone Church of the Holy Apostle and Evangelist John the Theologian with the chapels of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God and St. Nicholas of Myra was consecrated in 1838. The stone bell tower was built in 1852.

During the Soviet era, the church was closed and destroyed.
