Call barrier at the Naturpark Steinwald railway crossing

Presumably, this call barrier is a special feature.Unfortunately, I had no luck here. The quiet automatic answering machine, which I only heard after pressing the call button for the second time, informed me that opening was not possible due to a technical defect.Apparently, I wasn't the first to wait in vain for the barrier to open, because there is already a footpath next to the level crossing. I checked the situation and nimbly crossed the tracks.However, this isn't entirely safe, as the trains travel very fast there.

Sunday afternoon... After pulling the lever, someone answered and said the gate would be opened in 20 minutes because trains were coming. After the second train had passed, the railway official called and asked if we were still there and let us through. On the other side, they pulled the lever again to announce that everyone was clear of the track area. 👍
