Kahrweiher Recreation Area

The leisure and recreation complex, which is close to the center but still in a quiet location, offers everything your heart desires: a large lawn for relaxing, fire pits, a kiosk and a children's playground. The large natural pond with a separate non-swimmer area offers plenty of space for refreshment in the cool water. There are also beach volleyball courts and a circular hiking trail with benches that leads you around the large outdoor area and invites you to take a relaxing walk.

In the 1970s, the city council decided after an exhausting decision-making process, in the Kahrweiher corridor to rebuild several existing gravel pits to a recreational and recreational facility with swimming. The decision was made against the spirit of the time to build tiled outdoor pools; Considering today's energy prices a forward-looking decision.
First of all, a water surface of approx. 34,000 m² was created from the many pits, loosened up by two islands. In 1987 it was officially opened with the completion of the company building with sanitary facilities and snack bar. Since then, the long sandy beach with its shallow riparian zones has given the young generation a special attraction with their parents.
In the following period, an island was connected by a wooden arch bridge with the "mainland", built a playground, football field, volleyball court and extensive lawns. The total area grew to around 68,000 m². In 2007, the city expanded the offer for the little ones with a water playground and for the adults with a second volleyball court.

Some benches, a sandy beach with a playground and lawn as a lounging area offer enough space for a little cooling off during a break.
