Nordby was elected in 1990 Denmark's best-preserved village.

This is because many of the original half-timbered farmhouses have been abandoned, although the farms have been moved to the fields as part of an agrarian reform.

The ornate paths, which are circular around the large fire water pond in the village center, also help to preserve the impression of a pristine city.

Near the pond stands the bell tower - at the place where the owners of the farm used to meet for a village meeting. Today, the sunrise and sunset are still accompanied by the bells of the tower, as the church is out of earshot.

Opposite the bell tower stands the old maypole of the village, and in the building behind it are the post office, library and parish exhibition.

If you walk through the village, you will definitely see the old city fountain with its red-painted woodwork and his lift. Take a look into the well shaft and admire the impressive stone sides.

The small, dreamy place is always worth a visit!

The lovingly preserved half-timbered houses, the beautifully designed village pond, the bell tower...everything invites you to unwind.

The 13th-century Nordby Church was built in the midst of four villages that were then on the North Island.

As a result, the church is just outside of Nordby and townspeople may have trouble hearing the church bells.

Therefore, a simple bell tower was built on the village square as early as the 17th century.

The current tower was built in 1857. The bell rang the sun up and down, during services and other church activities, or in the event of a fire, which posed a grave threat to the village's many thatched houses and farms.

Today the ringing of the bell is done by a volunteer ringing guild. The bells no longer ring for services, but rather at sunrise and sunset from Easter through the autumn half term and on Saturdays and Sundays the rest of the year. However, at Christmas the bells ring every day.
