The spring rains have completely filled the Cuerda del Pozo reservoir, making it impossible to follow the Senda del Duero along the shore of the large artificial lake. Many of the signs are submerged in water, and the trail is flooded. The only option is to follow the road to the dam facilities and, at the exit from the wall, rejoin the main route through beautiful oak and grassland pastures. The atmosphere is completely lonely, and the terrain is practically flat and conducive to the rural paths of Vilviestre de los Nabos and Hinojosa de la Sierra. The remains of the Hurtado de Mendoza Palace, located on a hilltop near the village, catch your eye before arriving. There's a new stretch of asphalt on the Garray road to the Campillo de Buitrago dam. The stage is almost over, but the icing on the cake is the Valonsordo meadow, where the Pedrajas River meets the Duero River. A beautiful oak grove completes the forest wonders of the Duero Trail.
In Garray, the Natural Trails of the Duero Trail and the Soriano Water Trail join together. The Antonine Trail is the Camino Antonino. Signs point to the detour that climbs to the Numancia archaeological site and mark the way to the city of Soria via an entertaining uphill climb that ends at the footbridge of the ring road. The trail passes the Church of Santo Domingo, declared a Site of Cultural Interest, with a monumental Romanesque facade. The route continues among palaces, monasteries, stately homes, and cobbled streets, passing through the Plaza Mayor, home to the curious Fountain of the Lions, and finally descending to the Paseo de San Prudencio and the peaceful, landscaped banks of the Duero River.
