Prešeren Monument of Kranj
On December 28, 1952, a 5-meter-high bronze statue of the greatest Slovenian poet was erected on the main square, between the Church of St. Kancian and the Prešeren Theater. It is the work of sculptors Frančišek Smerdu and Peter Loboda. It was erected under the watchful eyes and instructions of Jože Plečnik and Josip Slavec, who were designing the arcades on the facade of the theater at the time. It is the largest statue of this poet.
