Visiting the medieval lighthouse on the Isle of Wight rewards you with stunning views over the Isle of Wye (in good weather). Built in 1313, the octagonal "pepperpot" was too often engulfed in fog, which is why the current lighthouse St. Catherine's (1837) is closer to the sea.
