Puntijarka Mountain Hut

The largest mountain hut on Medvednica, Planinarski dom Puntijarka was built by the Zagreb Mountaineering Association in 1954. It's also known as Planinarski dom Ivan Pačkovski (the Ivan Pačkovski mountain lodge), after the man who was so instrumental in its construction.

The hut can accommodate around 200 guests, while there's enough space outside to seat 300!

The mountain lodge "Ivan Pačkovski" (or better known as "Puntijarka") is located at 957 m above sea level and is located below the peak of Puntijarka, next to a spacious clearing. Construction of the building began in 1949 with the intention of building a health facility - a student recovery center. The construction of a health facility at that location was soon abandoned, and the started construction of the facility was taken over and completed for mountaineering purposes by the "Zagreb" Mountaineering Society in 1954, and named the home after its president and initiator of construction, Ivan Pačkovski. Today, the home is maintained by PD "Zagreb-Matica".

Dom Puntijarka is the largest mountain lodge on Medvednica and is open every day of the week. The home has 35 beds in 14 rooms, and 3 halls - dining rooms that together can accommodate around 200 guests. The home has electricity, water, central heating and a telephone. In front of and around the house there are terraces with tables and benches that can accommodate over 300 picnickers.
