View of Cachopo 🇵🇹

The village of Cachopo is located in the municipality of Tavira, in the heart of the Algarve mountains. It is a typical rural village with a population that still lives from the arts and crafts that characterise the tradition of the community, such as cork and wood crafts, weaving, basketry, dry farming, livestock farming and even beekeeping, which is reflected in the production of particularly pure and pleasant honey.
Walking through the cobbled streets of this Portuguese village, around the church that adorns the roof of the village, you will discover a unique heritage, made up of buildings that reveal the social history of this region of the country - hence the Cachopo Museum Centre - and that is complemented by a natural environment of great scenic beauty.This landscape consists of windmills, ruins of prehistoric circular houses and plant and animal species that are unique to the Algarve. These can be discovered via hiking trails that start from the Cachopo Biodiversity Station. This structure covers a length of 1000 meters and coincides with section 5 of the Via Algarviana. Since 2021, there are several panels with scientific information about the flora that everyone can photograph and about the fauna that, more or less extroverted, only a few will be able to see.
