Hrad Štandl Ruins, perched atop Štandl hill at an elevation of approximately 350-351 meters, offers a fascinating glimpse into the rich history of the Moravian-Silesian Region in the Czech Republic. Located near Frýdek-Místek, this historical site consists of the terrestrial remains of a vanished small castle, strategically positioned within the Příborská pahorkatina (Podbeskydská pahorkatina) overlooking the Olešná and Ostravice rivers. It once served as a crucial border fortification, guarding trade routes and the Moravian frontier.

Štandl Castle was under the administration of the Olomouc bishops and protected the Moravian side of the border and the trade route from Olomouc to Krakow, which near it crossed the Ostravice River into Silesia. In the Middle Ages, it belonged to a group of small, probably wooden guard castles on the border of Moravia and Silesia.
The castle grounds were oval or circular. The core was surrounded by a moat and a rampart with palisade fortifications. The main and perhaps only building of the castle was a tall guard tower. It was probably wooden on a stone foundation.
