Beautiful church and landmark of Großarl, which is why it was built on a prominent site: the church sits enthroned on a southern rock spur in the Ellmau valley, far above the houses in the village and is therefore visible from afar.

The landmark of the Grossarl market is the parish church, which stands on a southern rocky outcrop of the Ellmau valley and is surrounded by the cemetery and is visible from afar above the houses. Today's church is the second on this square - almost nothing is known of the first Grossarl church. Two documents from 1339 indirectly report on a church in the Arl, at a time when Großarl had long not been a parish of its own, but a branch of the mother parish of St. Veit / Pg. This first church was rather the size of a chapel and over time became much too small for the growing population and so the call for a new, larger church became very loud in the 18th century. The new building was decided in 1768 and also carried out until 1770. The cost of the new building amounted to 7,805 guilders (3,000 guilders paid the cathedral chapter, the prince archbishop donated 1,000 ducats). While the south and east sides were completely rebuilt, parts of the old north and west walls and the tower were included in the new building. The old tower itself was raised and only got the tower dome in 1783. In 1770 the present rectory was also rebuilt.
The late baroque church is a single-nave, broad hall church with a gable roof, 3 yokes, arched windows and a uniform Rococo style. In the first yoke there is a double gallery on square, chamfered pillars. On the high altar picture Maria with the child is shown, flanked by the two church patrons Ulrich and Martin. The Holy Trinity is shown in the top picture of the high altar.
