A glance at the Vinga Lighthouse takes you right into the heart of Gothenburg's maritime history and to one of the most striking landmarks of the West Swedish archipelago. The tower stands on the small island of Vinga, the westernmost island of the Gothenburg archipelago, and has marked the entrance to the harbor since the 19th century.

The current lighthouse was commissioned in 1890 and consists of a 29-meter-high granite tower with a round lantern. Its focal plane is 46 meters high, and the range of its white sector is approximately 25 nautical miles. The first Swedish lighthouse with a lens stood on this site as early as 1841; a second followed in 1854. The tower has been automated since 1974.
