Fuschl Castle is picturesquely situated on the western shore of Lake Fuschl in the Salzkammergut region and was built around 1450 as a hunting lodge for the Prince-Archbishops of Salzburg. The historic building has subsequently served various purposes, including as a backdrop for film productions, including the Sissi films. Today, the castle houses a luxurious hotel with its own spa and golf course.

It has long been a pilgrimage site for Sissi fans. In 1958, it served as the setting for the popular and famous trilogy about the Bavarian princess and her Emperor Franz of Austria.
Memorabilia from the Sissi filming can still be admired today in the museum located directly in the hotel.
