This section of the trail north of Route 30 often has mountain laurel in the summer months and great views of Mill Creek Valley year-round. About 2.2 miles north of Route 30, Card Machine Run flows through the trail with a bog and spring that are accessible. About half a mile north of Route 30, there is a shelter area with lean-to shelters, fireplaces, and space for tent camping.
