Unfortunately only the view from above is possible, everything is privately owned and the operators (diving center) do not like visitors😔🧙

Still worth seeing, just because of the color of the water🤩

The dive water Messinghausen is an old quarry, which is surrounded by mountains. The water in the lake is rainwater only, because the lake has no inflow and is not fed by the groundwater. The lake can be reached via the old road (only a temporary gravel road) over which the overburden was previously transported. This path leads into the lake.

Messinghausen - See im Berg, is located in about 480m above sea level

The lake in Messinghausen is a former quarry, the mining was discontinued here in 1984. The company Schneidewind dismantled here Diabas, one of the hardest rocks in the Sauerland. Even at times when the quarry was still in operation had to be constantly pumped out water. When the mining permit was no longer granted and the pumps cleared, the water level rose slowly to a current level of about 45 m.

If you follow the path to the very end, you have a great view of the Blue Lake, even without entering the private property.
