    Hiking

The Ponte Velha de Mértola ("Old Bridge of Mértola"), also called Ponte Branca or Torre do Rio, is a structure along the Guadiana River. Although called a bridge, it is the remains of a wharf and fortified harbor connected to the defensive curtain of the walled city. This structure was built between the 9th and late 12th centuries during the Arab occupation of the Iberian Peninsula.
