Tranekær Church is located at the southwest end of Tranekær town and was built in the Gothic style in 1450. A 12th century village church previously stood on the same site, in a style which can still be seen in the old church barn near the front gate.

Cycling

Tranekær Church is located on the southwestern outskirts of the town. It was built in 1450 in the Gothic style and significantly altered in 1804 by Frederik Ahlefeldt-Laurvig, owner of Tranekær Castle. A further reconstruction took place in 1886. The burial chapel and the vault below contain several sarcophagi and coffins belonging to the Ahlefeldt family from the 17th to 19th centuries. The church is open daily except Sundays during the summer months.
