Søgård is a small main farm. It was founded by the Grand Chancellor and Viscount of Langeland, Frederik Ahlefeldt (1623-86), by merging twelve farms in Søndenbro. However, the current buildings date from the 1850s. When the county administration was abolished in 1919, part of the land was given to the state and divided into state farms. In 1990, the farm was bought by the Ministry of the Environment with the aim of reforesting the deforested island and creating better habitats for animals and plants. In the buildings, an association runs a holiday camp for children.
