    Hiking

Tower Gardens was originally part of the larger St George's Field, separated by the construction of Skeldergate Bridge in 1881. The area became York's first public park, featuring lawns, shrubs, seats, and walkways. Today, a portion of the city wall with Davy Tower still stands at the end of the river Ouse within Tower Gardens.
