The bright turquoise high mountain lake at 1657 meters altitude is one of the most beautiful hiking destinations in Tyrol. Here you can refresh yourself in the cool water. On windless days, the Zugspitze massif is reflected in it. If you do not have enough, head up to the Coburger Hütte and the Drachensee.

The Seebensee is a natural high mountain lake (glacial over-influenced rock basin lake) at 1657 meters altitude south of Ehrwald in the Mieminger mountains. It is framed in the east by the Vorderer Tajakopf, in the south by the Vorderen Drachenkopf and to the west by the Ehrwalder Sonnenspitze.
The Seebensee has no significant aboveground inflow and an outflow over the Seebenbachfall and the Geißbach in the Loisach. The lake can be reached from Ehrwald on a forest path over the Ehrwalder Alm, on the Seeben via ferrata, a difficult via ferrata, or via one of the two secured mountain climbing Hoher Gang or Immensteig. From Biberwier the lake can be reached via the Biberwierer Scharte, from Leutasch through the Gaistal.
Near the lake (northeast) is the cultivated Seebenalm. South is on a rock terrace above the lake, the Coburg hut of the German Alpine Club.
The surface of the lake covers about 6.5 hectares, but earlier was larger. Through soil and fouling analysis, it can be shown that a large area southeast of the lake (today as mainly grassy plain especially from a bird's eye view to recognize well) is now a disused former part of the lake area.

The lake is really a gem, but you should continue to the Coburg hut. There the view is even more beautiful on the lake. If you still have enough strength, you should descend on the Tajatörle and descend through the valley behind. You feel like you are at the top ... 😊

Very idyllic location. From here you can already see the Coburg hut - and the steep ascent ;-)

From the Ehrwalder Alm you can easily make a family-friendly mountain hike to the idyllically situated Lake Sebensee and Drachensee. As a retreat, the Coburg hut is recommended. For the ascent you have the choice of a well-accessible agricultural lane or the High Gang Steig (this should be used because of its difficulty only by experienced hikers with sure-footed and no fear of heights). The rocky path that leads from Lake Sebensee to Drachensee (Coburg Hut) is still very accessible despite its many stone steps.

The "high gear" is a via ferrata with handrail for something practiced and "ordinary" shoes is certainly possible.
With dog, however, we have better turned around !!!

A short climb or driveway from the Seebenalm, which is worthwhile in any case.

the Seebensee is truly a pearl of nature. After a via ferrata tour, we enjoy lying in the grass on the shore and admiring the great surrounding mountains. via-ferrata.de/seebensee-wanderung-von-ehrwald-aus

Wonderful lake - if you want to run a longer round: Start on the Ehrwalder Alm over Tajatörl to the Drachensee (equally beautiful) and then continue to descend to the Sebensee. So you have the hike almost to yourself at first. From the Sebensee back to the Ehrwalder Alm, it is already quite touristy.

It's just gorgeous. You have to have been here. Just after the ascent on the climb "high gear" a great rest stop.

Nice way. If one uses the Querwege one is not disturbed by MTB ern.
On warm days, the sun does not bang like that.

    Beautiful, blue mountain lake!
Unfortunately, when the weather is good, the Ehrwald Bahn is very crowded with tourists

A mountain lake that is wonderfully embedded in the Mieming chain and can be reached in two ways from the Ehrwalder Alm: on the one hand, very demanding via the "Hohen Gang '' (812), or comfortably but long via the road from the Ehrwalder Alm. In any case, beautiful!
