Hiking Highlight
The bright turquoise high mountain lake at 1657 meters altitude is one of the most beautiful hiking destinations in Tyrol. Here you can refresh yourself in the cool water. On windless days, the Zugspitze massif is reflected in it. If you do not have enough, head up to the Coburger Hütte and the Drachensee.

Small but fine lake. The water is crystal clear (and ice cold!). The benches invite you to take a break. From here it goes continue to the Coburger Hütte or back towards Ehrwalder Alm / Ehrwald.

The Seebensee is a natural high mountain lake (rock basin lake shaped by the Ice Age) at an altitude of 1657 meters south of Ehrwald in the Mieming Mountains. It is framed by the Vorderer Tajakopf in the east, by the Vorderen Drachenkopf in the south and by the Ehrwalder Sonnenspitze in the west.
The Seebensee has no significant above-ground inflow and an outflow via the Seebenbachfall and the Geißbach into the Loisach. The lake can be reached from Ehrwald on a forest path via the Ehrwalder Alm, via the Seeben via ferrata, a difficult via ferrata, or via one of the two secured mountain trails Hoher Gang or Immensteig. The lake can be reached from Biberwier via the Biberwierer Scharte, from Leutasch through the Gaistal.
The managed Seebenalm is located near the lake (northeast). To the south, on a rocky terrace above the lake, is the Coburger Hütte of the German Alpine Club.
The surface of the lake is around 6.5 hectares, but used to be larger. Soil and vegetation analysis can be used to prove that a large area to the south-east of the lake (which can be seen today as a mainly grassy plain, especially from a bird's eye view) is a former part of the lake that is now silted up.

Picturesque lake, easy to reach from the mountain station of the Ehrwalder Almbahn via forest roads or small hiking trails.

Even in bad weather, the lake looks incredibly beautiful between the mountains all around.

the Seebensee has a crazy color and there is a very special mood up there ... depending on the time of day still different ... just indescribably beautiful, you have to experience it. Best not only once :-)

Very idyllic location. From here you can already see the Coburg hut - and the steep ascent ;-)

In the photos I think of an insane climbing tour with my brother, mid-90s: D
Incredible area!

Early in the morning 7-9 clock least going on! Pretty cold, but you can go swimming!

The lake is really a gem, but you should continue to the Coburg hut. There the view is even more beautiful on the lake. If you still have enough strength, you should descend on the Tajatörle and descend through the valley behind. You feel like you are at the top ... 😊

Great turquoise blue lake with a beautiful mountain panorama in the background! Accessible via field hiking trail or directly via normal mountain hiking trail

A also by children (about 8-10) good to handle hiking trail. Has something from. , , go through the fairytale forest. If you arrive at times at Seebensee, it is not so "crowded". A nice place to reward yourself with a picnic. For prams or the way back there is also a paved path with great views of the valley.

From the Ehrwalder Alm an easy and beautiful hike. The Seeben lake is beautiful and has a great green color in the sunshine.

From the Ehrwalder Alm you can easily make a family-friendly mountain hike to the idyllically situated Lake Sebensee and Drachensee. As a retreat, the Coburg hut is recommended. For the ascent you have the choice of a well-accessible agricultural lane or the High Gang Steig (this should be used because of its difficulty only by experienced hikers with sure-footed and no fear of heights). The rocky path that leads from Lake Sebensee to Drachensee (Coburg Hut) is still very accessible despite its many stone steps.

Beautifully located lake in the best colors, which becomes the "Spiegelsee" when it is windless!
