The Kannegießerhaus, probably dating back to the 15th century, is one of the oldest surviving town houses in the city of Rheine. It acquired its current appearance through Renaissance-style renovations in the 16th and 17th centuries. During this time, the Kannegießer family provided several mayors of the city.
