The village of Ovchukhi is one of the oldest settlements in the Vladimir region; it is mentioned in the charter of Grand Duke Vasily Ivanovich from 1515 among the villages granted to the clergy of the Vladimir Demetrius Cathedral. Later, this village was granted to the Bolshoi Uspensky Cathedral in Moscow, in whose possession it remained until the abolition of monastic and church estates.

A church was built in the name of the Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos in 1650; the fate of this, of course, wooden church is unknown.

There is a stone church in the village, its refectory was built in 1848, and the main church was built in 1861. A stone bell tower was built with funds from parishioners in 1873.
