The first documented mention of a church in this place dates back to 1638. By 1656, the landowners Pyotr and Mikhail Bashev built a new church on the empty land in the name of the Intercession of the Holy Mother of God, which is why the churchyard was named Pokrovo-Bashevsky.

In 1764, the church burned down. A year later, a new wooden church was built here instead. The Pokrovsky parish was very large and included dozens of villages. On the patronal feast day, large fairs were held around the pond near the church.

The new church turned out to be very cramped, and then it was decided to buy a large church log building in the village of Novo-Nikolayevskoye. In 1790, this was done: the church was transported, installed in the churchyard, consecrated, but in 1823 it also burned down.

The current building of the church was constructed of brick by 1825 with the participation of merchants Prokofy and Dmitry Barskov, the hereditary owners of the Anopinsky plant. The church was consecrated that same year. In 1842-1844, a heated chapel in the name of the blessed prince Alexander Nevsky was built here at the expense of the landowner captain A.K. Rameykov.
