Take a deep breath at the graduation tower at the Lower Saltworks

Bad Kissingen was one of the smallest and oldest salt production sites in all of Central Europe: From 823 to 1870, salt was commercially produced in the Lower Saltworks area for over 1,000 years. Then, the production of the white gold was discontinued, and the facility was completely converted to spa operations: instead of salt, additives for spa treatments were extracted.

The graduation tower, the imposing building currently being renovated, was once part of the salt production facilities. It served to enrich the brine. Ultimately, the therapeutic element took center stage here as well. After construction is completed, walking around the trickling brine in the graduation tower is expected to reopen in summer 2026. Consciously breathing the salty air is said to increase physical and mental performance and stabilize the immune system.

Directly next to the graduation tower is a Kneipp saltwater pool, perfect for water treading.
