The church is probably one of the oldest churches in all of Barnim. The wood found on the roof truss can be dated back to 1266. The church tower was blown up in 1972 because of alleged dilapidation. Parts of the nave were also destroyed and the church became a ruin. Renovation began in 1990. Just two years later, services could be held again.
