The Willisau rotating beacon is a radio beacon for aviation navigation. It transmits a special VHF radio signal, from which a receiver in the aircraft can determine the direction to the beacon. The aircraft does not require a direction-finding system, as the direction information is encoded into the signal by the transmitter.
