    On the Schlossplatz in Coburg, you'll find a weather column made of Alsleben sandstone, which was erected on August 29, 1882 "...at the instigation of the Coburg Meteorological Committee..." by the sculptor Heinrich Scheler based on a design by city architect Julius Martinet.
