Many decades ago, numerous passenger ships and tugs crossed the Spree and the Oder-Spree Canal, which was built about a century ago. One of these historic ships escaped scrapping and was towed to the meadows near Streitberg, which were later separated from the Spree and increasingly silted up. The "Hedwig" found her eternal rest in one of the idyllic ponds, which today lies in the middle of a cattle pasture.
