Schnait is a district of the large district town Weinstadt in the Rems-Murr-Kreis.

The place was mentioned in 1238 as Snait for the first time in a document. Schnait was in the 16th century the ancestral seat of the noble family Gaisberg. In 1555 the village came into the possession of the donations of Limpurg. On July 10, 1596 Schnait was taken possession of Württemberg. The donations of Limpurg were returned to Schnait on 18 November 1602. In 1607 Schnait finally transferred to Württemberg through a barter. The community belonged to the Oberamt Schorndorf. After the dissolution of the Schorndorf Oberamts Schnait 1938 was assigned to the district Waiblingen. In 1971, the Catholic Church of the Holy Cross was opened in the traditionally Protestant-dominated Schnait. On 1 January 1975 Schnait became together with other municipalities a part of the new municipality Weinstadt
