Soest's city wall is one of the most impressive preserved fortifications in Westphalia. Since 1180, it has served as a defensive ring around the old town. Today, the nearly 2.6-kilometer-long path along the old walls invites you to take a stroll steeped in history. Mighty trees line the path, while glimpses of half-timbered houses, gardens, and church towers are frequent. At the Osthofentor gate, thousands of medieval crossbow bolts bear witness to its former defensive purpose. A walking tour that brings the past to life – surrounded by nature.
