Blesendorp, as it was known at the time, was first documented in 1291 as belonging to the Cistercian monastery of Marienfließ. The single-story half-timbered houses, with their welcoming front doors, windows, and shutters, cluster around the village green in the center, where the fieldstone church with its massive transverse tower stands, as well as the old schoolhouse from 1818 and the rectory. Blesendorf was considered a nest of ruins until its 200 residents participated in the village renewal program and, from 2001 to 2004, made their village more beautiful than ever before! A community center with a bowling alley and stone oven was also built.
