    Nice church. Lighting a candle is always possible.

      The first Catholic service was held in Osterfeine in 1855;

      In 1856, the Osterfeine Chapel Congregation was formed.

      Initially, services were held in the schoolhouse.

      The solemn consecration of the Church of the Assumption of Mary finally took place on October 2, 1865, by Bishop Johann Georg Müller of Münster after four years of construction. The neo-Gothic brick building was constructed according to the plans of the architect Johann Bernhard Hensen of Sögel. The furnishings followed in the following years:

      An organ was added in 1868, the bells in 1870, and the high altar around 1876. The magnificent stained-glass window cycles from the Derix company in Kevelaer-Goch were installed in 1903 and 1913/14. The side altars were added in 1930.

      After long disputes, the Osterfeine chapel congregation was granted parish rights on October 1, 1901. During the church's remodeling following the Second Vatican Council in 1970/71, the original neo-Gothic furnishings were unfortunately removed; the turret had already been removed in the 1950s. During the renewed renovation in the early 1990s, the original furnishings were reinstated in the church; only the high altar, built in 1876, fell victim to the "iconoclasm" of the 1970s.

      As part of the reform of the Catholic Church in the Oldenburg region, the Osterfeine congregation was merged with the congregations of St. Viktor Damme and St. Agnes Rüschendorf to form the new parish of Damme St. Viktor on October 14, 2007. The exterior renovation work, including the restoration of the stained-glass windows, was completed in 2019.

        Impressive neo-Gothic brick building (1861-1864). Completely remodeled in 1970. The neo-Gothic interior was restored around 1990.
