Like a giant bicycle rim with spokes, the scales of a new drawbridge mark the northernmost entrance to Delft. The familiar image of the rickety old chicken bridge has given way to a bizarre appearance made of shiny steel. The super-light round spoked balance platform is a contemporary response to the industrial character of the site and forms a beacon for Delft Knowledge City. Royal Haskoning was responsible for the architectural concept, preliminary structural design and project management of the bridge.
