The Fieseler Fi 103 was the first cruise missile to be used militarily. As one of the "wonder weapons" in Nazi propaganda during World War II, it was also called Vergeltungswaffe 1 or simply V1. The development of the Gerhard Fieseler factory in Kassel had the code name FZG 76 for Flakzielgerät 76 and was ready for use in the spring of 1944. From June 1944 to March 1945, approximately 12,000 Fi 103s were used by the Wehrmacht, mainly against targets in England (London) and Belgium (Port of Antwerp).
