According to legends, holy Corona was an early Christian martyr (2nd century AD). According to the Catholic view, she is the patroness of money, the butchers and treasure hunters. Well, the relatively stately forest chapel from 1820 can definitely be called a treasure. According to legend, its history goes back to the 16th century, when a wooden picture was found here in the forest, which the finders took with them, but it wandered back to its place of discovery as if by a miracle. Fifty years later, the first chapel was built here in 1648, which turned out to be a popular pilgrimage magnet. The pilgrimages got out of hand over the years: "The boys drink, dance and jump, fight and beat." Apparently there were already "corona demos" at that time. 😳Finally, the chapel was even torn down in 1807. Even this draconian measure did not seem to have been the right one, at least the chapel was rebuilt in 1820. Today it is still standing, is in good shape and is not exposed to any hostility.

Beautiful place of worship idyllically situated in the forest

Quiet place on the edge of the forest. The icon of St. Corona is currently in Munich with the restorer. At Pentecost she will be back in the chapel.
