Gelnhausen has a beautiful imperial palace, two large churches, many old half-timbered houses, defense towers (witch tower) and two marketplaces.
Two large markets, the Barbarossamarkt in March and the Schelmenmarkt in October. Which are visited nationwide. Furthermore, a city law ceremony is held every few years.
In December, a large Christmas market with historical tours. The tours also take place at Easter and on other days.

Gelnhausen was founded by Emperor Friedrich I, better known as Barbarossa. The city on the Kinzig impresses with many historical buildings, including some half-timbered houses, and is always worth a stop, for example on a tour along the Hessian long-distance cycle route R3.
