"...Philippsweiler is a district of Oberpierscheid in the Eifel district of Bitburg-Prüm. Philippsweiler was originally a pure workers' village. The employees of the ironworks of Merkeshausen (Oberpierscheid) lived here. The village was founded in 1830 by the charcoal burner Philipp Kramer for this reason . The current name of the district goes back to him. The name "Weiler" was also added, since it is a small village with few buildings. ..."
