Tips

  • Sebastian Kowalke

The Staffelalm awaits you not only with a magnificent view, delicious snacks and refreshing drinks, but also with two special art treasures.

The artist Franz Marc, one of the most important expressionists in Germany and co-founder of the artist community "Blauer Reiter", regularly visited the Staffelalm on his hikes between 1900 and 1914. Inspired by the picturesque landscape and the peaceful cows in the pasture, he painted two frescoes on the walls of the Staffelalm. Since then, a large bull's head and two green deer have graced the alpine hut.

  • Two wall drawings by the artist Franz Marc can be admired on the Staffelalm. Anyone who asks nicely will certainly be let in to take a look at the pictures. However, photos are not allowed.

  • Very nice tour. At the beginning it starts with a long gravel and scree path. Then normal hiking trails that lead in small narrow paths along rock faces. But you can walk these paths with your dog without hesitation. Sturdy shoes are absolutely necessary. The ascent to the Rabenkopf is tough and sometimes very steep with many steps, some very high. You will be rewarded with a phenomenal view at the end.

  • From the Rappin Gorge up to the Staffelalm... the view makes up for the (although beautiful, but exhausting ascent after just 12 km)!

  • The Staffelalm is always recommended as a hiking destination, very friendly service and a central point for various routes. You can descend towards Pessenbach or continue in the direction of Jochberg.
