Slightly misaligned stamp point, just follow the Sommerbergstraße downhill, then "almost directly under" the old place is the new one.

Good view of the Granetalsperre and the Harz foothills. The Steinberg and the Rammelsberg can still be seen to the right of the Granetalsperre.
updated 7/3/22. The HWN stamping point has been relocated by 150 m. The view is much better at this point. A view of Wolfshagen is now possible.

A beautiful view over the Harz.

It is definitely worth it. The view alone makes you forget the hardships. You should definitely have seen it.

As you can see, the altar cliffs can also have a dark charm. We saw a rainbow for that. But the view in beautiful weather is actually incredible

The Altarklippe is one of the most beautiful stamping points of the Harz hiking nobility. The view down to the Granetalsperre is magnificent.
We've been there countless times, but it's always fascinating.
The Altarklippe (HWN 171) can be easily reached on foot or by bike in combination with the HWN 106 (Pavilion Schöne Aussicht).

Far away from the rest of the civilization you have peace and a beautiful view of the Granetalsperre and the Harz foreland

Unfortunately I was a bit unlucky with the weather. Well it could have been worse;) After all, you could still see a little bit through the fog and thus imagine what it would have been like in a beautiful sunrise or sunset mood ...

The Altarklippen (516 m above sea level) are located between Hahnenklee and Wolfshagen, above the Granestausee.
