Since the reconstruction of Paradiskullen in 1992 – in 1961, it was also Sweden's first plastic-covered ski jump – Örnsköldsvik has become Sweden's center for ski jumping and combined. The Nolaskolen Ski Academy is the only one in Sweden that trains ski jumpers. Almost all of Sweden's popular ski jumpers of recent times are members of the local Friska Viljor ski club and were trained at this school.
In 1980, the Junior World Championships were held at what was then the Paradiskullen K70, and from 1985 to 1994, Örnsköldsvik hosted six World Cup competitions.
