Balbieriškis rural municipality (Russian: гмина Бальвержишки, Polish: gmina Balwierzyszki) is a former administrative-territorial unit in the territory of present-day southern Lithuania. Its center is Balbieriškis. The rural municipality was founded in the 19th century. On May 31, 1870, Balbieriškis was annexed to the rural municipality, which lost its city rights. In 1934, an unsuccessful initiative was launched to annex the rural municipality to Alytus County. The rural municipality was abolished on June 20, 1950, and its territory was transferred to Prienai District. The rural municipality administration building, built during the interwar period, served as the repressive headquarters of the NKVD after the war, later it was used as a post office, and currently the building is empty and poorly maintained.
